Kappa Search Inc. (KSI) is a Chicago area recruiter specializing in the recruitment and placement of sales, engineering, manufacturing and technology professionals in a variety of fields. One of our clients is a well-established leader in the office automation industry. This company is in a solid growth mode and is looking to expand their sales force. Sales responsibilities and requirements as follows:

Position Summary:

  • Promotes the sale of products and services.
  • Examines and analyzes customers’ needs and requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison with customers on engineering matters related to products, applications, sales, installation, services and warranty.
  • Recommends and prepares specifications and/or design modifications pertinent to the proposed installation.
  • May assist in or oversee installation and servicing of products where engineering is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development of sales strategies and goals.
  • Through the implementation of sales strategies, attains bookings and sales goals.
  • Makes personal contacts with customers, dealers, architects, lab managers, buyers, end users, and engineers.
  • Prepares and delivers formal sales presentations.
  • Responds formally to customer requests for quotations.
  • Designs and prepares product modifications and specifications.
  • Works with engineering and design staff to develop new and/or custom products.
  • Represents company at trade shows, exhibitions and association meetings.
  • Prepares periodic sales activity reports, forecasts and call logs.
  • Keeps others apprised of current and potential projects.


  • Mechanical Engineering degree desired; however, a minimum two years experience in a Design or Engineering discipline may be an acceptable alternative.
  • Minimum two years successful field sales experience, preferably in industrial, mechanical, electrical or material handling.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of ergonomic design engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, verbal and written. Be positive, courteous and customer-first focused.
  • Polished and professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Personal credibility as evidenced by following through on commitments and returning phone calls and e-mail messages in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Confident and persuasive negotiating skills.
  • Experienced in making polished and effective presentations to knowledgeable groups of professionals.
  • Practical experience in using Excel, Word and Power Point software applications and simple illustration applications such as CAD or CorelDraw.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to work independently and away from direct support.
