Kappa Search Inc. is a professional recruiting firm that specializes in manufacturing, operations, procurement and supply chain recruitment and placement. One of our clients, a major manufacturer of metal products for the consumer and commercial markets, is currently recruiting for a buyer with experience purchasing finished goods as well as some raw materials. We would prefer a candidate with global sourcing experience with India and China. Other responsibilities as outlined below:


  • Identify global market price, product and opportunities to support product value and profitability.
  • Routinely review sourcing and procurement, inventory, supply chain performance and quality requirements of assigned categories / suppliers
  • Establish relationship and maintain constant contact with domestic and foreign vendors
  • Manage the entire sourcing process from inception to completion.
  • Maintain price accuracy files and system requirements relating to new product setup, forecasting / demand, inventory and procurement and all means of logistics within an import environment with accuracy
  • Establish and maintain daily communication with internal and external customers pertaining to sales opportunities, manufacturing and import program needs, quality standards and requirements and manage systems intelligence of same for on-time delivery and well-managed supply chain
  • Maintain a full awareness and evaluate all added cost factors of global procurement/sourcing while recommending suggestive measures to maximize efficiencies
  • Negotiate existing product price increases and prepare pricing analysis with low cost alternative options

  • Maintain ERP system
  • Document spend activity to create Spend Analysis
  • Actively source, negotiate and outline new product requirements in a fast-paced environment for on budget and on time delivery throughout the supply chain


  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in supply chain/procurement
  • International (Pacific Rim) communications experience and understanding of cultural differences as they pertain to negotiating prices and contracts and communication needs and ability to meet them
  • Experience and expertise in Microsoft Office, forecasting systems and Enterprise Resource Program systems (SYSPR, Oracle or JDE) and profit/loss analysis
