Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago technical recruiting firm that specializes in engineering, manufacturing, operations and technical sales recruitment and placement.

We currently have an open position for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. The primary function is to development and design new products or redesign of legacy products to meet specifications and schedules as outlined by the Engineering Manager and in accordance to company procedures and guidelines.


  • Will participate in the initial concept and review of new product specifications.
  • Manage and maintain each assigned project and project schedule including design, prototyping, testing, pre-production, and release to purchase/production/manufacturing including all necessary documentation (electronic drawings, bills of materials, assemblies, catalog data, etc).
  • Will coordinate with other departments to provide solutions to design problems to assure a manufacturing friendly and cost-effective product.
  • Investigate, identify and share new methods, avenues and outside vendors that could enhance new product capabilities and/or reduction of manufacturing costs.


  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering. Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 5-10 years experience in the HVAC products industry
  • Experience in product design of fan coils, air-cooled chillers and or air handling or hydronic equipment/components is preferred
  • Must be familiar with regulatory agencies and governing bodies i.e. UL, ETL, AHRI, AMCA, & ASHRAE
  • ProEngineer (preferred) or AutoCAD proficient
  • Proficiency in all components of MS Office.
  • The incumbent must have the demonstrated ability to produce complete designs including conception of design, utilizing engineering applications theory, and production of electronic drawings.
  • Ability to write technical reports.
  • Ability to speak before groups of employees, customers, and peers.
