Kappa Search Inc. (KSI) is a Chicago area employment agency specializing in the recruitment and placement of engineering, manufacturing and technical professionals in a variety of fields. Currently, we are searching for a maintenance mechanic with injection molded plastics experience for an automotive client.

  1. Process machinery, plant equipment, and facilities include: injection molding presses, molds, grinders, pumps, motors, blenders, compressors, boilers, lighting and electrical systems, conveying systems, robots, automatic handling equipment, assembly machinery, and other specialized equipment and systems.
  2. Maintains and installs: process piping, valves, timers, thermocouples, fittings, gauges, solenoids, switches, etc., and all types of hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and air systems.
  3. Sets up, removes, inspects, and maintains molds of all sizes and complexities in an automatic or semiautomatic press so that molds and presses are ready for production. Makes insert changes, disassembles, cleans, and reassembles molds according to production requirements. Installs and removes auxiliary equipment such as insert loads, material dryers, shrink fixtures, hot stamp machines, conveyors, sprue separators, test equipment, etc.
  4. Requires diversified and skilled work using a high degree of independent initiative and good judgment and the ability to improvise and adapt where necessary. Analyzes, plans, directs, and performs complex work to install, maintain, repair, and modify plant facilities, machines, and equipment. Requires considerable knowledge, skill, and experience in such areas or fields as machine tools, electrical and mechanical theory and practice, electronics, robotics, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, sheet metal, carpentry, etc.
  5. Lubricates machines and equipment and performs other plant maintenance as required. Develops and maintains blueprints. Instructs, directs, and trains other employees. Keeps spare parts inventory for various machines and equipment. Consults and works closely with plant engineering and management. Recognizes the need for, and seeks, appropriate assistance as necessary.
  6. Performs other duties as directed by supervision in all areas of the plant, office, and facility.


Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Science, or equivalent.

Minimum five years technical maintenance experience in manufacturing or engineering environment plus demonstrated technical growth.

Requires considerable knowledge, skill and experience in such areas or fields as machine tools, electrical, and mechanical theory and practice, electronics, programmable controllers, robotics, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, welding, etc. Experience in a combination of the above specialty areas necessary.
