Kappa Search Inc. (KSI) is a Chicago area recruiting agency specializing in the placement of management, sales, engineering and technical professionals in a variety of fields. Currently we are seeking a 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic for our client in the Chicago Heights, IL area. 

Job Summary:
Responsible for performing maintenance and repair of all production and facility equipment.  Interface with subcontractors in the repair of production and facility equipment.  Specify and order required repair parts and supplies. 


-    Installs electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors, and other such equipment.
-    Performs skilled maintenance activities including electrical, welding, construction, brazing, soldering, and plumbing.
-    Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeter, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gages.
-    Ensures full compliance with all CM and government Environmental Health & Safety standards, policies and procedures.
-    Implement lean manufacturing concepts including continuous improvement and 5S—
-    Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established environmental, health, safety, quality, and compliance standards.
-    Establish procedures by which the teams/ production technicians perform preventative maintenance activities.
-    Train production technicians in the preventative maintenance activities of plant equipment.
-    Interface with engineering, production and suppliers in the maintenance, fabrication, rebuilding and improvement of manufacturing equipment and facilities.
-    Assist teams in their continuous improvement efforts.
-    Assist production in the definition of manufacturing methods, tooling and equipment.
-    Establish procedures for shop floor housekeeping and 5S implementation.
-    Establish a minimum spare parts and supplies inventory.
-    Assure the required spare parts are available and ready to install.
-    Fabricate spare parts, as required.
-    Facilitate compliance with company safety, housekeeping, attendance policies and practices.
-    Ability to obtain mobile equipment certification and operate equipment safely
-    Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers and suppliers.

-    High School Diploma required.
-    Trade certificate in machine/facility maintenance and repair, including machining, electrical, motor controls, plumbing, HVAC and welding.  Equivalent experience may be substituted.
-    Minimum of five years experience in a manufacturing environment performing machine maintenance and repair.
-    Familiar with the function and operation of a variety of manufacturing equipment and processes (i.e. heading, rolling, drilling, heat treat, plating, band annealing, assembly and facility support.)
-    Ability to read equipment and component drawings and schematics.
-    Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
-    PC Literate.
