Kappa Search Inc., a Chicago employment agency specializing in the recruitment and placement of engineering, technology, sales, manufacturing and supply chain professionals, seeks a multi-disciplined systems engineer for an innovative client in the automotive industry. Responsibilities and requirements as follows:
- Provide technical leadership for NPD incorporating electronic and electro-mechanical systems
- Design and optimize simultaneous system performance goals through architecture definition and requirements flow down
- Understand and write system and subsystem specifications
- Serve as technical liaison to customers where needed; consolidate and negotiate customer requirements and application specific interfaces
- Approve specification release and change, support configuration management
- Understand vehicle sensors and signals; develop interface requirements and specifications for vehicle-to-system and subsystem-to-subsystem.
- Tune new product characteristics, diagnose and correct deficiencies in designs and prototypes
- Effectively integrate all aspects of a design through the use of multi-disciplinary engineering
- Complete the systems engineering V-model by supporting system testing and verification activities
- Assist in maintaining cost controls
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor (Masters preferred) – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Excellent problem solving techniques
- Knowledge of system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques
- Excellent communication skills and a desire to work with people
- Good organization and documentation abilities
- Enjoy driving and evaluating vehicles
- Background in automotive engineering and chassis systems is preferred
- General competency in all core fields (vehicle dynamics, mechanical, electronics, computer hardware and software) is preferred
- Strong computer skills, especially in spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink) is preferred
- Knowledge of Autosar, ASIL systems safety requirements, is preferred
- Knowledge of project management processes and tools is preferred
