Kappa Search is a Chicago employment agency that specializes in engineering, manufacturing, operations and technical sales recruitment and placement. We are currently recruiting for maintenance engineers for a growing client.


  • Maintain records for maintenance of plant.
  • Maintain an up-to-date plant equipment log book recording the following:
  • Equipment failure, problems, parts used and steps taken to make repairs (if outside labor is used, RECORD what is done, including the date and the cost).
  • Utilities Usage – Fuel, electric, water and sewage (as assigned – daily, weekly, etc.)
  • Maintain boiler water chemical treatment log.
  • Regulate chemical injection and perform boiler blow down daily.
  • Perform daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and repair unsafe condition immediately.
  • Maintain a complete up-to-date equipment file, so all information is accessible in case of an emergency repair and/or routine maintenance.
  • Maintain a business file of supplies and service organizations for quick reference.
  • Maintain a priority list of jobs to be completed using this list to prepare both daily and weekly schedules.
  • Perform all plant and equipment maintenance, keeping within budget limitations.
  • Perform all daily and monthly preventative maintenance as per schedule and correct all problems – even if they are not on the P.M. sheet.
  • Maintain adequate spare parts supply for emergency repair of vital equipment as well as small parts for supportive equipment (securing proper approval to purchase parts for back-up inventory as necessary).
  • Contact and secure bids from outside service companies for projects requiring outside labor.
  • Submit bids to Plant Manager for further processing.
  • Keep plant and tool storage neat and organized.
  • Maintain and store all plant tools in a good, organized fashion and control the purchase and security of these tools.  Maintain excellent housekeeping during and after job repairs.
  • Anticipate – Anticipate any problems and use corrective measures to reduce or eliminate downtime.
  •  Quality – Participate and assist in the ongoing development of the Quality Improvement Process.
