Description Kappa Search Inc. (KSI) is a Chicago area recruiting agency specializing in the recruitment and placement of sales, engineering, technology and manufacturing professionals in a variety of fields. Currently, we are searching for two HVAC Sales Engineers which will allow our client to expand its Industrial HVAC market share into New York City, NY and New Jersey.

Position Summary:

Promotes the sale of our client’s Commercial HVAC products and services.  Examines and analyzes customers’ needs and requirements.  Serves as a liaison with customers on HVAC engineering matters related to products, applications, sales, installation, services and warranty.  Recommends and prepares specifications and/or design modifications pertinent to the proposed installation.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the development of sales strategies and goals.
  2. Through the implementation of sales strategies, attains bookings and sales goals.
  3. Makes personal contacts with customers, dealers, architects, building owners, buyers, end users, and engineers.
  4. Prepares and delivers formal sales presentations.
  5. Responds formally to customer requests for quotations.
  6. Designs and prepares product modifications and specifications.
  7. Works with engineering and design staff to develop new and/or custom products.
  8. Represents our client at trade shows, exhibitions and association meetings.
  9. Prepares periodic sales activity reports, forecasts and call logs.
  10. Keeps others apprised of current and potential projects.
  11. Performs various other duties as assigned.

  1. Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree desired; however, a minimum two years experience in HVAC Sales Engineering discipline may be an acceptable alternative.
  2. Minimum two years successful Commercial HVAC unit field sales experience.
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of ergonomic design engineering principles.
  4. Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, verbal and written.
  5. Be positive, courteous and customer-first focused.
  6. Polished and professional demeanor and appearance.
  7. Personal credibility as evidenced by following through on commitments and returning phone calls and e-mail messages in a timely manner.
  8. Strong organizational skills.
  9. Confident and persuasive negotiating skills.
  10. Experienced in making polished and effective presentations to knowledgeable groups of professionals.
  11. Practical experience in using Excel, Word and Power Point software applications and simple illustration applications such as CAD.
  12. Willingness and ability to travel extensively (90% within the territory of either NYC or NJ).
  13. Ability to work independently and away from direct support.
