Kappa Search Inc. (KSI)is a Chicago area recruiting agency specializing in the recruitment and placement of management, sales, engineering and technical professionals in a variety of fields. Currently we are recruiting for a General Manager for our client who is a leading producer of software for use in the automotive and wind energy industries. This person will direct a new office opening in the Chicago area from the ground up.  Following opening, the General Manager will be responsible to oversee and direct U.S. operations, sales and strategy.

Job Title:  General Manager – Renewable Energy

Location:  Chicago, IL

Compensation:  $95,000 – $110,000 base + bonus, health benefits & 401K

Key Responsibilities:

– Ensure the U.S. business strategy is aligned with and complementary to the global corporate strategy
– Transition and development of the U.S. businesses, potentially including absorbtion of another office
– Lead daily operations, business development and business affairs of the company
– Development of annual and medium term strategies, objectives and plans to achieve profitability and sustained growth
– Planning, forecasting and optimization of resources to support current and future demand
– Full responsibility for management of P&L including budgets, profits, and cash flow
– Provide legal representation for the company in the U.S. as needed
– Oversee and direct the opening process for a new facility, including site location, hiring and training
– Manage and lead customer relationships with current customers and direct sales efforts to acquire new customers
– Nurture existing high level contacts and relationships and create new high level relationships within the industry and government
– Furnish the board of directors with accurate business activity reports, plans and forecasts for revenue, resource, customer and opportunity updates

– 10 years of experience in a global business environment
– 4 year bachelor’s degree
– Comprehensive understanding of the U.S. automotive and/or wind energy markets
– Previous career experience with a software provider is preferred
– Possess exceptional attention to detail and strong commercial acumen
– Ability to act as the company’s ambassador, nurturing developing high level industry and government relationships
– Strong leadership abilities and high level of creativity
