Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago staffing firm that specializes in engineering, sales, manufacturing and logistics recruitment and placement. One of our clients in the logistics industry currently seeks a logistics sales person out of a non-vessel owning freight forward company as follows:

Logistics company is seeking a sales executive out of the Chicago area to work out of a home office.  This is a new position and will report to the president of the company located in NY.  Over time, this may turn into a sales management role if the Midwestern US territory is grown large enough.  The company currently has sales territories based out of LA (2 reps) and NY (4 reps) and do not have much coverage in the Midwest.

They are looking for a candidate with 5 years of sales experience in the freight industry

Prefers experience out of the steam ship lines

Second preference would be someone out of another non-vessel owning freight forwarder

This is an outside sales position with frequent regional travel (expectation is around 75% of the time traveling and seeing clients) and heavy cold calling.  We are looking for someone very aggressive and who is willing to hustle after clients.  University degree is a must.  Also, this person will need to travel to New York quarterly for sales meetings.

Compensation will be 1 of the 2 following options, decided by the candidate:

  • $75-85K base + commissions, no ceiling on total comp
  • $100-125K base + small bonus

The candidate can change pay plans yearly.
