Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago recruiting firm that specializes in engineering, manufacturing and technical support recruitment and placement. We are currently recruiting for a Technical Writer as outlined below:
Description:
- Ability to create and edit Component Maintainence Manuals CMMs
- Assist engineers in creating formal test reports
- Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set Engineering standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
- Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other establishment personnel.
- Confer with management, customers , vendors, or publisher to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
- Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.
- Select engineering photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material
- Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
- Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
- Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine
Requirements:
- Excellent technical writing skills and ability to peer review technical documents for grammar, content and style of writing.
- Demonstrated ability to document business processes and write detailed functional requirements.
- Ability to work under tight timeframes.
- Good organizational skills.
- Capability to handle sensitive and complex issues with discretion and good judgment.
- Familiarity with writing Qualification Test Plans or QTPs to various technical test standards such as DO-160F, FCC, UL for a variety of products including consumer electronics, aerospace and telecom
- Familiarity with writing Acceptance Test Procedures or ATPs for a variety of electromechanical products
- Familiarity with aviation industry highly desirable
